The job's documents appear as a row of statuses — quote accepted, proof approved, invoice paid — with the dollar figures stripped out. The customer sees where things stand without seeing what you paid for materials or what your margin is.
If they have a question, they ask it right on the status page. Their messages reach you as a digest — one "you have 3 new messages" rather than three separate pings — so a chatty customer doesn't turn into an inbox you dread opening.
The whole page hangs off a single private link, scoped to that one job — it can't wander into another customer's work, your costs, or your margins, and it's rate-limited so it can't be poked at. If a link ever gets forwarded somewhere you'd rather it didn't, regenerate it and the old one goes dead.
